About
Elise

I’m a London-based communications strategist and psychological researcher. I began my career running an independent music venue on California’s Central Coast, bringing touring artists to an overlooked market. After earning an honours degree in Literature, I worked as a data analyst at Google, a literary magazine editor, a junior creative in film, a marketing and community outreach manager, and a programme director at a social justice nonprofit. In 2019, I launched my freelance business helping mission-driven organisations develop branding, copy, and campaigns for their programmes.

Storytelling and human experience have always been a throughline in my career. To back my instincts with science, I earned an MSc in Psychology with Distinction at Birkbeck, where I trained in research design, behavioural science, and qualitative methods. My dissertation explored the psychological and relational impacts of housing precarity on London’s middle-income earners, a group often left out of policy decisions.

Each of my past roles has shaped how I think, communicate, and create. Today, I bring these threads together to help organisations better understand the people they serve. Drawing on audience insight, research, and strategy, alongside my creative background and feel for cultural relevance, I help orgs determine how best to communicate with their audiences in clear, authentic and impactful ways.

Outside work, I cook, write, walk, garden, attend weird gigs at small venues, and take regular trips to the sea.

“Elise is an intelligent, thoughtful, and highly engaged researcher. She independently accessed and evaluated original sources, designed her own research materials, and exercised sound judgement in recruitment and data collection. She asks intelligent questions, responds thoughtfully to feedback, and approaches research with care, professionalism, and strong attention to detail.”

“Throughout my academic career I have relied on Elise for a variety of tasks, and each and every time she has exceeded my expectations. Whether she has proofread and edited my work for publication, consolidated my research findings into a well-organised and easily searchable dataset, or created websites for conferences I have organised, her work has always been professional, efficient, and timely.

Moreover, she is a true pleasure to work with. Always friendly and always flexible. I cannot think of any aspect of a qualitative or quantitative project that is beyond the scope of Elise’s capabilities.”
